Default This Is Odd

Not a pleasant subject but it really is puzzling me.

Before i left UK i used to suffer from hard skin on my feet, which i had to regularly keep in check. When i moved to Australia it miraculously disappeared! After several years in Aus and now returning to UK for a mere 6weeks it back!! :curse::curse:

How come??

What is it about blighty that does this.

i've noticed that also. i think it's coz it's so humid here that i don't have a problem plus i don't tend to wear tights/stockings or socks here but do in the uk.

get that pumice out and buy some Scholl Rough Skin Remover from Boots or any good chemist and it should clear up no probs.

Morning guys. No cant be socks and shoes as i have only worn the same open toed backless shoes i wore back in Sydney. I rarely wear socks or tights even in winter.
Truebrit might have the answer though. Could it be the humidity and difference in temperatures?
All i know is i am sick of it already lol I still have a very large pumice stone i picked up on the banks of Lake Taupo in NZ several years ago. I knew it would come in handy one day.

It's all that shopping you can do now so lots of standing and walking, Here in the open top coffin you probably spent more time lying down or sleeping. Your days are probbly longer too thanks to the night life and lighter evenings.

I had feet like that in hot and humid Atlanta........then came to the UK and they got better the first year we were in the UK.........I had lovely soft feet the first year in the UK which btw was the year we took off from work since I had a redundancy.........this year we went back to work and back came my nasty feet,.............I tell ya it's work that does it to ya.

I'm no expert but apparently sweating can soften the skin on your feet - not sweating can dry it out so that may have something to do with it.

I would say the opposite. I have extremely sweaty feet and the skin is very dry and hard. A pumice or file are no use to me...I have to use a callous knife to remove the hard skin. The climate or whether I'm wearing socks, stockings, sandal, shoes or barefoot makes absolutely no difference.

My husband does not have sweaty feet at all but has very soft skin. He even gets dog hairs sticking in his feet which he has to remove because of the discomfort. Whereas I could stand on a 6" nail and I wouldn't feel a thing.

i hate to say this but that could be were you are going wrong. by using a callous knife that will only encourage the hard skin and not actually cure it although at the time you may think the hard skin has been cut away. i suffered with very hard skin also unlike my OH but now if i have probs i use the rough skin remover i mentioned earlier and the pumice and rub and rub on a daily basis until it is cleared also massaging in lots of good cream after the exfoliating.

I don't think so because my feet have always been that way...I have only been using a knife for the last few years and I always use a foot cream on the problem areas.

I have to laugh at OH though when he says 'ouch there's something sticking in my foot' and it turns out to be a hair!!

Its rare I wear shoes...I can step on a drawing pin and not feel it...I put it down to being poor when younger and my mum not letting me wear my school shoes out to play.....

LOL I thought it was just me! When I go home my feet get very dry and scaly and bits start peeling off - I go through tubes and tubes of Boots heel balm in a month!!!! I put it down to the very hard water at my parents' place. It isnt the shoes because I wear the same (I'm a Crocs or Birkies gal). Not socks or tights because I refuse to wear either. Not dehydration in general because I drink lots of water no matter where I am. Canberra is less humid than Cambridge so it cant be that. I dunno but if you get the answer do please let me know!!!

Must've been all those strolls along the beach with no shoes on that allowed the sand to rub off all the hard skin! Buy yourself a sand pit for your garden & walk in it every day, see what happens, might work.
