The feeling is mutual British women - this is what 90% of the locals are like where I currently reside: http://youtu.be/c_stcgW8E4o

Ha ha ha! Yep I cannot believe the difference when I go home in nights out to nights out here.

Everyone here always says to me "Ooh you're a bit dressed up aren't you?" Call me old fashioned but I think thongs are for the beach not a night out (I mean flip flops btw lol!!!)

Here, on a night out, I might as well be invisible, but in the UK everytime I go out I get chatted up and bought a drink. Even if I'm not interested in the guy romantically I always buy them a drink back and I've had some really great - not to mention funny - conversations plus a lot of dancing and laughing!

Nice one. Don't get me wrong I'm not all metro. Thanks for making my evening. Actually got tears of laughter in my eyes at that one.

Another reason to go home - recently an Aussie I met here mistook my accent for Australian. Either have been away to long or my accent is really getting weak;) Not uncommon here though - rarely are you British its either South African, Aussie or NZ

Thankfully, after 30 years in the USA, no one mistakes me for an American :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I held on to my British accent but I do have a slight American twang but it is only detectable when I talk to someone in the UK. When I go to the UK, though, it quickly disappears. Whew!

lol! I love it! I don't know where you live but this seems to be the case so often in the US. Here we either have the yucky trash or the yuckier trash. :D

Got assaulted on Sat by a horrible drunk girl and then got assaulted again yesterday by a drunk, psych patient who attacked myself and a police officer after slashing her wrists.

We finally managed to restrain her, cuff her and call for urgent back up but she got a bloody good kick in first damn it! I'm very bruised and limping a bit but I'm ok, think it just caught me by surprise being roundhouse kicked, covered in blood, spat at and being called a c*** at 8 in the morning - how rude lol!!!!

The best bit? They're not pressing charges because the police have told me "it won't go anywhere" and the funny thing is I don't even care, so over it!

Roll on Friday!!! :drinkwine:

Good grief! I really don't know how you do it. I have a friend who is a cop and I just feel for both of you, the crap you put up with, the messes you have to clean up the nasty people you are there to help... ugh! As someone else said, a lot of respect for what you do. I hope you feel better soon and I envy your ability to laugh it off, I know you kind of have to to keep any form of sanity but I still envy it.
