I remember when I used to run. I came in from a long one, opened a malt loaf, cut it half and buttered both bits, then ate it all with a pint of milk!!

OMG....our oldest has English pounds in his wallet from last year (he also has a lot of moths in there as well...a lot like his Grandad for that..lol) I think about 20 pounds...anyway he has been saving them all this time because one of the first things he is going to do is go to our local Sainsburys and bye Soreen Malt Loaf.....especially if it is buy one get one free......honestly I kid you not.....we have Soreen sent over here by family...it's cheaper and are fresher than any you can buy in the shops here in Perth....I can blame my sons fetish (and as fetishes go...well it could be worse..lol) on myself...as i just looovvveee Malt Loaf...Soreen only though....TB..I have since died my dark hair blonde due to the Wessex episode...and told my dad off for pulling my leg...gave him a great chuckle though....

OK, I'm lost.
What on earth is Soreen Malt loaf, sounds like I am missing out a culinary delight. Off to google it....yes I know I'm sad.
ETA:
OK, looks like posh fruit loaf/toast. Will take your recommendations and try it when I get home.

OMG! Hope you had that with a nice cuppa. Can't wait 'til June now....I can already taste it. Sliced longways and spread with unsalted Lurpack.......it will, of course, will be preceeeded by either a proper Doner Kebab or a proper Balti (neither of which are available in Adelaide).
