My concern is that our leaders in Edinburgh will do a deal with London and these obscenities will stay. Commentaries on military history often note that strategists often plan to fight the last war. For example The Maginot Line was a solution to the trench warfare of the First War. Nuclear weapons were perfect for the 1940s but make no sense when we face a very different enemy. The war we are waging now is not against Russia.

As regards the UK's retention of the nuclear deterrent, the political and military egotists will never let that go, neither will the UK's military bosses in the Pentagon. As for basing, Plymouth could be an option, but will probably be considered too close to the home counties for comfort!

No date. Much discussion and a great deal of hot air. Huffing and puffing. From Edinburgh and from London. It strikes me that trident is our Maginot Line. That was designed to fight a different war. Trident was designed to win the Cold War. The enemies we face now are not the Russians - or the Chinese - with the bomb. Vested interests in the Armaments Industry and "Concrete Heads" in The Military cannot see that.

In the past there have been instances where young hackers have been able to get into any amount of so called sensitive secure sites. So do we all really believe that Security Services & Governments donĀ“t already "spy on" each other?
