Default Characters welcome. wtf?

On holiday in the US at the moment. What does 'Characters Welcome' refer to when advertising programmes?

Is it used on one particular channel or several channels?

Seems to be on USA a lot when advertising drama. Perhaps it's a plea to the writers?

It's the motto of the USA channel only. I guess it's just a way of saying they want 'character' shows, and not the same old boring crap.

That's why I asked the OP. I did a quick Google and came up with the USA channel motto. I'm sure it must be quicker to Google than open a thread...then wait for replies.

Yeah, they show stuff like 'House' and 'Monk' - character driven drama/comedy instead of reality shows and the like.

At least that's my interpretation of it anyway.
