Back in Belfast. Freezing cold and pouring rain but great to be here in front of a big log fire. My Fedexed suitcase guaranteed delivery yesterday ($670) did not arrive and even tracking can't help :-(. All my warm sweaters, pj's, wellies and puffer coat. Picking dogs tomorrow.
I just got told by Virgin Mobile that I have to pay shipping both ways if I return the iphone. These people make up things as they go along. Bumma. Good news is everything is 10% off today at Target because of the security breach on credit cards used at their stores. Cheers |

You didn't put your flight on here Windsong, I was going to track you. Hope you and the pups are having a good flight, if you took off already.

Believe it or not, I am still in the U.S. At the last minute I decided to stay until September - for a few reasons. I will now leave towards the end of September and will have my renewed passport (hopefully!)

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!
Thanks for the update Windsong. I knew you had some last minute stuff come along and so know you can have more time to prepare for September.

Here for another couple of months. Not what I had planned but some things don't turn out quite the way we plan them. ;) |

You wouldn't want to put yourself and your pets through all that stress again. |

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!
I reckon this thread needs a bump, seems to have been abandoned lately.
We are off home in a weeks time. Animals are booked with Air Canada on the 8th, and we fly Air Transat the next day. Hoping everything will go smoothly. Definitely way over baggage allowance, so will just have to suck up the cost. Also a little worried about customs/immigration, as youngest kids passports expire end of July, but they are British children, with British passports travelling to Britain, so hopefully should be ok. I know there's a few others heading home in May, sooo excited! |
Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!
Long time coming Rosie! congratulations and hope you all settle in really quickly and are happy! I'm still waiting patiently!

As long as the passports are valid you will have no issue :) |

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!
Goodness, how time flies! Wishing you the best of everything!
My daughter and her husband are leaving tomorrow for Stratford upon Avon. He will be working for the Royal Shakespeare Company. I have just paid a deposit on a lovely apartment overlooking the river Lagan less than a mile from my brother's house in Belfast. The agent has been wonderful and no extra dog deposit required. So from today my countdown also begins. Please keep in touch. Bon Voyage! |

Leaving Dallas today for Dublin via Chicago. First class on AA points. My little dogs arrived safe and sound on Monday into Belfast. I feel less excited than I thought. 43 years here and the goodbyes have taken a huge emotional toll. Prayers for an uneventful trip, please.

I, too, had that feeling of being less excited than I expected upon leaving the USA. In fact, I was beginning to have mixed feelings; however, I knew I did not want to die in the USA and given a blanket choice between the UK and USA, I would choose the UK every time. Once I got to the UK, though, I hardly gave the USA second thought. I still don't really. I do think quite a bit of the happier times I had in the Mid West but I would have similar feelings if I moved from one part of the UK to another after being in one place a good number of years. I wish it was a little warmer in the UK and there were more hours of sunlight but I can resolve that by going to Spain or Portugal or somewhere else for a few weeks. I welcome the rain every time it rains, too. That's because I came from consistent daily 90 -plus degree temps with blazing sun from dawn until sunset - and with zero humidity. I can't wait to open the windows in the morning to feel the freshness of the air. Once I have a job I will have everything I need right here; in fact, I think life has more meaning here, at least it does for me. My pets love it here, too. ;) |
