No, but you could try reading the good along with the bad to gain some perspective. You could also try talking to real people back home.

There are definitely jobs to be had in the UK. My husband is in Scotland. His company went into administration about 2 weeks ago, and they laid him off last Monday. Thanks to doing some networking, he landed an interview and got a job offer last Thursday. Maybe it was just luck, being in the right place at the right time, but it just shows there are jobs out there. Its not all bad.

I guess it must be difficult for some people to get their head around the fact that Britain is a broken country, both socially and economically. The latest sad figures testify to that fact:

'Falling incomes will mean the biggest drop for middle-income families since the 1970s, says a report from the Institute for Fiscal Studies. The IFS forecasts two years "dominated by a large decline" in incomes, pushing 600,000 more children into poverty. WE ARE NOT SAYING THAT THERE AREN'T PROBLEMS IN THE UK. YOU DON'T NEED TO 'PROVE' THIS TO US. WE ARE NOT ALL IGNORANT AND STUPID AS YOU SEEM TO THINK.

WHAT WE ARE SAYING IS THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS EVERYWHERE, EVEN IN JAPAN, AND MANY COUNTRIES ARE CURRENTLY WORSE OFF THAN THE UK.

THE INITIAL DISCUSSION WAS IN PART ABOUT THE UNRELIABILITY OF THE SURVEY PRESENTED, BECAUSE TO RATE A COUNTRY ON HOURS OF SUNSHINE AND THE COST OF CIGARETTES REALLY DOESN'T TELL YOU ANYTHING.

Yes, I have posted, perhaps, too many negative reports about Britain. But, this topic, entitled Article about unhappy Britain, is about Britain and why people are unhappy. So, the articles I posted gave a strong indication as to why people may be unhappy. From Britain having the highest Obesity rate in Europe to families who have a member in work, but are having to go to food banks to survive, struck me as symbols of the unhappiness in Britain. Along with increasing unemployment and large increases in fuel bills (heat or eat). If I remember correctly, 10% of Britains want to leave the country. As an outsider it all makes worrying reading regarding someone who may want to return to Britain. Oh, I do have friends and family in England and they, unlike people mentioned in the news stories, are doing okay, but are concerned. I am trying to look at the overall picture, especially indications of what life will be like in Britain in the near future.
