Default 2 Types of Folk

In David Goodheart's 2017 book, The Road to Somewhere, the author argues there are two types of people in the modern, globalised world. The Anywheres, comprising the well-travelled prosperous liberal classes, and the Somewheres, who are rooted in one 'home' location, are likely less educated and less able to cope in the wider world.

Does this explain why some people cannot make it when they migrate ?

Hhmm. I will need to cogitate on that a little bit as from those definitions I am a cross breed between a Somewhere and an Anywhere, crazy mixed up lady that I am.

Maybe it is a continuum, rather than 2 boxes that people fit into.

Put me down as an any “Any-some”. Including the place I grew up I have lived in 5 different areas in England and Scotland, plus 2 different States in the USA. Anywhere will do but some places but we found that some are better than others for us. After retiring at age 55 we spent a few years traveling before deciding to settle in the best place we had liked

My ambition is to retire to Tralfamadore, made popular by Kilgore Trout. Not managed to get there yet.
