Yes there will be costs to renew. It's so much for each year. You'll have to check the government website for that.

Haha yes....best to check out Penang first to see if you like it.

All the planning that we all do for retirement....bear in mind that you can always change your mind sometime in the future. I know of several people who have chucked in their MM2H visa and gone somewhere else. So, things don't have to be set in stone, especially as none of us knows what the future holds.

Hi bakedbean, Tks for your info contribution in this forum
Since you seem to know penang well, take the liberty to ask you regarding condos in Penang.
a) Which area is ideal for a highrise condo with sea-view
b) Walking distance to grocery store/Tesco etc...since we dont have a car
c) Is it possible to get a condo between 2500 -3500 pm. How are the amenities like for this Price range?
d) Also a Hospital within 3-4 km would be a plus
e) Area where one can walk in the evening for a stroll
Thanks

Well exReg, except the fact that we are living in the said condo unit

Saiprasad, best idea is to come out to Penang and look around and see if you like it. There's a lot of places that will fit the bill. Penang island is an island so there's sea views all round. Plenty of grocery stores and supermarkets. I've no idea about rental prices.

1. Penang lands are getting limited and most of the projects are high rise condo units with sea views

2. The closer the location to Tesco or marts, then the prices of the property is likely to be more pricier, hence it would be advisable to distance from them and do your shopping maybe twice a month or lesser.

Most expats have a regular family taxi which they can rely on for their shopping.

3. Yes its possible, depending on the size and location of the condo. If nearer to Tesco or prime area, then it could be higher.

4. Penang island, Pulau Tikus (rat island ) has Island Hospital, Gleneagles, Loh Guan Lye, Adventist, Lam Wah Yee, Pantai Hospital, Mount Mariam Cancer Hospital.

Again, unless you need medical attention daily, then its advisable stay away from prime area as it can be rather uncomfortable with the traffic. Not to mention you need to pay more for rental.

5. You may try Tanjung Bungah area
