Question about H1B Visa
Hello,
I have a question for a friend. She is from Thailand and has been living here in the United States for the past 8 years on a H1B visa. The company she works for has not offered to sponser her for a green card, she has become unhappy with her work situation, basically she is being worked to death and not getting paid enough. Is there any way to adjust status at this point? If she were to quit her job she would go out of status and possibly face deportation and of course does not want that to happen. Any suggestions?
Thanks

You would get more replies if you posted this in the USA section.

I thought that it is not possible to stay on an H1b for more than 7 years ( 2 x 3 years + a 1-year extension). She cannot apply for AOS unless her employer sponsors her, and she would also require labor certification, which can take quite a while to get.
But, as Sue, said, you really need to post this in one of the US forums.
