Default Ascension Island

This is Chris from Ascension Island. Ive been lucky ( some might say) to have worked and lived here for over 10 years. My problem is now trying to find a job elswhere! Why dont employers have the manners to at least respond to your application? Is Ascension really that remotre a place that no one knows where we are? I have been searching for another job for over a year and recently some did reply and say that in his words" almost 100% of employers wont take you seroiusly until you are back in the UK" There is the problem. I have a wife and a new baby and just cant put them at risk by not having a job. It wouldnt be the right thing to do to just up and go!
10 years here is just too long and I think Im going mad! LOL Any advice anyone?

I know where Ascension Islands are - stopped there on the way to the Falkland Islands

Are you searching for work back in the UK or elsewhere?

I'll go anywhere where the work is, as long as I can take my family! Any suggestions?

What is your field? How much in demand are people like you?

Have you kept up connections with past employers and colleagues. Are you networking?

Can you use your vacation time to go back to the UK to line up a job?

Im an armourer and aircraft ground handling supervisor. I left the UK to try something new ( Ascension) and whilst I have loved it, it is time to move on I feel. To be honest, the UK doesnt really appeal anymore. I guess I have the "island" bug. I'd quite like the Caymans, Isle of Man, lol as I said Ill consider anywhere. I have kept in touch with past employers but as I dont want to go back there......................
