Can I buy some land in Ireland, and put a static caravan on it , and live in it

Usually people do this when building a house, then the caravan goes once thehouse is finished and you move in. However, my brother lived in a van on someone's land for years with no trouble from the council.
Your best bet is to ring the council of whereever you're planning on moving to and ask. You can get the phone numbers from www.goldenpages.ie

Land is very expensive nowadays, with cheap sites very few and far between. You might be better of buying a piece of land with a derelict house on it- anywhere between 100,000-200,000 euro. If anyone questions a caravan you can say that you are 'getting ready to apply for planning' on the derelict property.
