My family and I are hoping to move to County Kerry if my husband gets a job. We would be looking to live either Dingle or Killarney and I was wondering if anyone could offer me some information on schools on both of these areas.
We have a 11 year old daughter who will be 12 in November who goes to a church school here in the uk. How does it stand in Ireland for non catholics to go to a catholic school-does it matter? Are there any high schools in Dingle as the only one i have found seems to be a boarding school..
I have seen 3 in Killarney can anyone give me and info on these schools?
This is something we have wanted to do for years so im hoping my husband gets the job but I am worrying about my daughter starting a new school and not knowing anyone...

We did this twenty years ago, moved from England to co. Cork. Basically there are no problems if your child is non catholic going to a catholic school. Allowances are made re attending religious services etc.

The education system is/was excellent both at National school (our daughter was 9 years old when we moved) and then later at the Convent school she attended. She subsequently obtained an excellent degree from Manchester Uni. (UMIST). and

found her Maths. ability in particular was more advanced than many of her fellow students.

Hope this helps a little, she did make friends quickly, everyone was most welcoming.
