Hi,
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to open an Irish foreign currency account while we are in Oz? We have kept an account open in Ireland but would like to also open a foreign currency account but the bank we are with do not have australian currency accounts. With the exchange rate being so bad at the moment we would prefer to leave it in AUD and exchange when the rate improves. Any info would be appreciated.

why not just leave it in your Australian account and transfer funds via internet banking (electronic transfer (TT)) to your Irish account? that's what i do - just set up for international funds transfer on your internet banking. it's very easy (too easy sometimes!) and doesn't cost too much - about AUD25 for each transfer. it is quick too - about 3 working days or less. that way, you can wait till the exchange rates improve...
