Default Moving to Cork on PIP

So my husband would like to move home to Cork, Ireland. I am English and I am also on PIP due to a long standing disability, I am also a student and would like to go to UCC to study more.
Can we transfer our PIP payments to Ireland? Would I need to be reassessed again here or over there? ......hmmm I have no clue! Calling DWP did not help me out either! So here I am asking if anyone has known or has been in a similar position? :-)

Welcome to BE.

Some of the disability benefits have been available in other EU countries, others not, so it will depend on what your benefits are for, ND os course there in Brexit starting sometime this year, and one of the things to UK will be looking to do is, almost certainly, to reduce/stop all benefits to British people in EU countries

Thank you mikelincs,
Well I am on disability living allowance, care and mobility component. We are looking to move in September after I qualify. It just confuses me. My husband is keeping an eye on the brexit, so my job is to get some answers, we don't want to be stuck with no money before I am well enough and qualified enough to work

The likelihood is you will lose the mobility component, my wife did when we moved to Spain, well she lost everything but the DLA was given back once the UK government had been ordered to.

Strange why the DWP can't help, as that's the first step you should do. If they aren't helpful see if you can qualify in Ireland instead. You just have to check here:
Disability Allowance

DWP said they could not give me an answer until i applied and lived in Cork, not overly helpful as this is a big decision!
Just want my husband to be happy and the kids to grow up with opportunities and out of where we are at the moment! Arg the worry drives me mad :-/

Govt Agencies will not answer "What if....." questions about benefits.
