You've been told that your idea isn't as simple as it sounds, and perhaps to do more research. If you have already made up your mind regardless, why ask the question? You've still not told us where in Northern Ireland your job will be. Driving every day from most of the places you mention to the border isn't going to be practical and if your job will be in the Belfast area, that would probably be well over an additional hour. Perhaps two.
I'd imagine because everyone is an individual, what seems like a good idea to one doesn't to another.

I didn't mention those places someone else did.

I didn't realise I needed to say where in NI my job will be, I thought it was a pointless point because surely all that matters is that its what I consider to be a commutable distance.
As it goes the company i work for has numerous bases dotted around NI, so i don't know which one i will end up at, certainly not as far north as belfast though.

Yes I have made my mind up, as far as I can see I have nothing to lose so its got to be worth a try.
All i was asking was if i had missed any obvious things, which from reading here, and online i had missed a few, however none so far have put me off.

Depending on where your job turns out to be I would recommend you look at co` Donegal, co` Cavan or co` Monahan. They are all as close as you can get to NI without actually being in it.

Cheers

Thats where I've been looking, seems a good choice of houses to either rent or buy.

Re pet passports, apparently theres a new law being enforced from January, but i'll need to read into it further.

7! super, I used to have 5, I do miss those crazy days!
It is still a novelty to be able to walk across a room without tripping over a dog.

Lucky you (and lucky puppy).
I'm resisting adding another mutt to the gang until i'm moved and settled, shame really because i'm at risk of losing my title as crazydoglady, crazylady doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

I live in Carlisle (the North West).
With a Central Asian Shepherd you won't have to worry about intruders!
Are the lurchers workers or pets?
I had a Greyhound a few years ago, ex-racer, i don't know how he ever raced because he found moving one from one side of the sofa to the other too much effort, i guess thats why he became an ex-racer
