My husband and I are thinking of driving to Venice from Zurich in the beginning of
September (as a part of a larger vacation in Europe). How long does this drive take?
We don't have a lot of time to devote to the drive, and if it takes too long - we
might spend the weekend in Paris instead.

Any advice?

It's a 555 km trip and you'll need to drive 6 hours.

The car sits in the car park outside Venice while you are there. Try to finish, and
leave from Venice, then you can turn the car in. You don't want to start in Vencie,
as car rental in Italy is probably higher than Switzerland.

You should check with the rental agency as to additional insurance for cars taken
into Italy. Some require it.

You will n e v e r drive from Zürich to Venice in 6 hours, as you will most probably
encounter some very bad traffic jams driving thru the alps, around Milano and on the
freeway from Milano to Venice.

Better take the train, but go to Venice. It is really worthwhile.

Default Zurich to Venice Drive

Hello There,

Did you and your husband ever make the drive? I am planning this trip for Mid may 2003. We plan on driving from Zurich to Venice, throught Tuscany to Rome. Then we are flying to Morocco to spend five days. next we will fly to Paris, or take a train to Barcelona where we will fly back to the States.

I don't know where to begin for planning the logistics of the driving portion. We really want to rent a nice car so we can be comfortable and drive fast when possible.

Also, we can not seem to find a good deal for the flight from Rome to Morocco. ANY IDEAS???

Best regards,

Rachael

Rachael,

I've done that. All you need is a good Michelin map. In Italy, nerves of
steel and a heavy foot on the gas pedal make for a better cruise.
