Yep, that's the one! Haven't been up there for a while mind you. It's still a
bit bleak for my kind of walking. Spring arrives a bit later in these parts.

Really looking for some relaxed beach time. I don't mind something
popular with tourists, if there are some charming areas. I'd wondered
about Lagos...

The Portuguese Atlantic in May can be *cold*, if you're actually
planning to dip in the sea.

Talking about Atlantic beaches, did you read the top 10 world beaches
article in the Guardian some months ago? No.1 was Illas Cies in front
of Vigo. Might be worth checking if you've never been there.

I don't know if the camping will be open in May, though. Anyway there
are more lodging options in equally interesting Ons.

Anyway, and very close to Lisbon you have great beaches, like Portinho
da Arrabida (near Setubal), praia de Magoito and praia da Adraga
(Sintra) and praia do Guincho (Cascais).

That wouldn't really bother me too much. I'm used to swimming in Norway.
It seeems to be warmer further east along the Algarve, which doesn't
include Lagos of course.

I'll look into that- thanks. Maybe a trip to the algarve doesn't have to
be on the cards this time around...

probably some slave trade history and Nigerian Guinness is alleged to
be good.

Ive only been to a resort near Faro, quite nice except we arrived
unexpectedly with the fire engines at the edge of the runway.
It was a package to the Canaries, someone at the back started shouting
"theres something wrong with the wing" and most of us metaphorically
looked upwards. Then someone else said "they are dumping the fuel" and
so the captain had to come on and say "we are just *dropping* down
into Faro to make some checks". They had to fly a part and man out
from London. When we eventually left the engineer stood at the front
looking confident, I suppose they wanted to show he was on the plane
too :-)
