Well, winter is the slow season for European travel, so there are
fewer legitimate inquiries. How hard is it to just ignore Runge,
Jacqueline and Evleth and only read the actual travel threads? This
newsgroup at least does have a lot of good discussion and has mostly
on-topic posts - many other newsgroups are a lot worse.

Yes, but (probably) like most of the regulars on this NG, getting extremely
"pissed off" with all the crap - filters or no filters!

Yours is the sort of report one USED to find on
rec-music-opera! Unfortunately, the flame wars seem to have
driven most of the serious posters away, although we still
have some die-hards in England who insist upon posting about
things like ROH productions, and one or two Americans who
still provide reports on regional companies - Houston,
Miami, etc. (I still read the group in hope, but after
skipping over all the crap, it doesn't take nearly so long
as it once did to scan through a day's postings!)

Sort of. Flights booked to Turkey in the summer, from whence we
intend to go to Iran by train.

Well, have a nice time at the Lion Inn on the North York Moors if you
stay there. It's almost my local - well 15 miles away actually, but it's one
of my favourite pubs in the area.

I dunno - over the weekend I updated my filters and now 99% of the dross
is gone.

Just thinking about packing my bags for a week in Muscat, as part of my
plan to spend as little time in NL as is possible.

Make credence recognised that on Wed, 14 Mar 2007 18:13:34 +0000, The
Reid <[email protected]> has scripted:

You know I'm still here!

Not sure why really, coz as you say this group has reached a new low.
Such an incredible amount of crap, and I can't believe people are
still playing with grunge and jaqueline.

I'm considering shifting to another travel group, web based or
whatever, but haven't found one that's unmoderated enough to allow
general (related or only vaguely related) chit chat.

Oh, plus I like to swear a lot.
