Hmmm. Perhaps it might be an age thing, my having left
Warren-Youngstown in 1960 when there were still steel mills to
reside a while at Fort Knox.

I left in 1966, at age 18.... the mills were still running and the
Mahoning River was still catching on fire! Maybe it's just a family
thing...mine pronounced one way, yours another.. Last time I went back
(1999) I actually went up to Warren to search out some marriage
records.

I was looking for a rather derogatory description to fit the spirit of
the paragraph. We do of course have a few corn tortillas here, at
least recently, in a few dubious tex/mex restaurants, usually painted
some sudden colour like yellow for some unknown reason (the
restaurant, not the tortilla).
