My wife, daughter and I will be spending one night
in Brussels before going to Paris by train.
What hotels would be convenient?
Thank you.

The Grand Place is the center of most everything, and is just blocks from
the central station. There is plenty of accomodation in and around there.
I got mine at the TimeOut site:
http://www.timeout.com/brussels/accom.xml?ar=1&cg=2
This link is for moderate accomodation near Grand Place, though you can try
other categories as well. You will have a very easy time of it with your
particular needs.

As pointed out it really depends upon your needs and desires. hotels in the
area of the Grand Place (walking distance with rolling baggagge) range from
2-4 stars (with that being the lux variety and not scaling for the US
inflation of 5 stars as OK)

Agree it is easily the nicest area.
But (unless things have changed) many long distance and international trains
do not stop at Central Station, they only stop at North and Midi (Central is
between the two) so you may have to change trains.
I would NOT recommend staying near North or Midi stations..

If it's just overnighting and you want to skip the countless charms of
Brussels, you should go straight for the Ibis Gare du Midi
(http://www.hotels-in-brussels.com/bookings.html). The neighbourhood is run
down, but the hotel is OK and literally across the street from South
Station. It doesn't get more convenient than that!
