"Another new attraction in Paris this year is a new sports complex
floating on the Left Bank that houses a lap pool with a retractable roof."

There's a new pool on the Seine on the east side of Paris that may be
the one under discussion. It has had some problems with construction,
though, and I don't think it's open yet.

According to www.Paris.fr, this 35th Parisian swimming pool is one of
the 2 floating ones due to reappear on the Seine river after the Art
Deco Deligny pool which was on quay Anatole France in the 7th
arrondissement sunked July the 8th 1993, 208 years after the first one
was inaugurated there in 1785...
The new one was inaugurated the 5th of July (missed the 4th?) by the
mayor of Washington DC since it was given the name of Josephine Baker.

Because 2 tiles detached themselves from the bottom floor it was closed
the 10th of July and finally reopened yesterday.

The mayor of Washington DC Anthony Williams was in fact in Paris the
4th of July since, before the pool, he inaugurated 2 statues including
the one of Thomas Jefferson, believe it or not on... quay Anatole
France (along Orsay museum) where stood/floated... the former "non
Fluctuat Nec Mergitur" Deligny pool !

If you have read the links below you have seen that the pool is next to
the new Simone de Beauvoir footbrige in front of the last branch
(Tolbiac or F. Mitterrand) of the french national library (BNF for
Bibliotheque Nationale de France). IMO a cute and photogenic
footbridge thanks to its original structure where 2 concave and convexe
but rather flat arches cross together in order to link both high and
low quays on each side, like the recent Solferino footbrige, and thus
pass nearer from the water thanks to the combination of ingenious
engineering ideas (tension, central independant "lens") that
"perhaps"... interested Mixi (at least for a photo) :+).
