A Dracula Theme Park, originally planned for Sighisoara, Romania, has been
moved to Bucharest. It is still in the planning stages, but check into it.
Ironically, the protests were rampant from Sighisoara when it was originally
announced for there, and the the protests were even louder wehn it was
annnonced that it would not be there.

No, but the castle that insired the legend. See

Better bring them from home. The supply situation in Romania could be
better.

Northern Italy. South Tyrol (Alto Adige) and Trentino. They wanted
to film at a castle in the Austrian Alps, but the snow was gone.
Therefore they had to go further south, but there was no castle. The
castle in the movie is just scenery erected for the movie.

Not really, if the Transylvanian women I worked with are to be
believed! They considered themselves Hungarian, but it's one of those
regions (like Alsace/Lorraine) which has been frequently disputed, and I
think it's part of Rumania at the moment.

I think you're out of luck. My co-workers had never heard of Bram
Stoker or his literary creation until they came to the U.S. (where they
were of course frequently greeted with incredulity and/or jokes when
they told people where they were from).

We met some Romanians in Vietnam this spring and got the sense that by the
time they'd traveled through Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, they were pretty
much sick and tired of all the Dracula questions from everyone they met.

My first thought was "Hmmm! Looks in some aspects like some castles at
home".
Than I run into "Bran Castle was originally a fortress built by the Knights
of the Teutonic Order in the year 1212.
It was known by the name of Dietrichstein at the time."
No wonder that it's not that much different from the castles built by the
Knights of the Teutonic Order in my home region.

Good one! (Wish it weren't so nearly true, figuratively speaking.)
