so is Spain "no work team" is the only one I can remember, probably
because it makes some sense.

Speaking of spotting people from countries other than the one the are visiting
I must have a sixth sense also.

For instance I can spot a Canadian a mile away in Europe. They're the ones who
WILL carry those stuffed Moose heads to remind them of home.

Cheers

N.W.T. is a quite popular brand for (wind)surfing and snowboard gear
in this part of the world.

Words on clothes are in nearly any case kind of silly. The origin
might be in uniforms, meant to reduce the personality of the person
wearing them. In these days more a sign of (voluntary?) submission of
a person under higher values like [choose any brand].

Depends on where you're going. Of course, a beret will be de rigeur
if you'll be in Paris. And in southern Germany, you'll want to be
seen only in lederhosen. In the Netherlands, I'm sorry to say that
you will have to wear wooden shoes. Not the best for walking, but the
only way to blend in. I would avoid the Jockey Club in London.....

For me? What about the two youngsters? remember the OP wanted to be rather
inconspicuous. Are you saying the locals wear natural sackcloth? Lycra too?
BOTH at the same time?

Regards.

Yes we do, but only on our hats. The really nice accent is the model that has a bit
of fishline atached to the Moose' ears. When we pull the little fishline the Moose
ears move back and forth as when the Moose is trying to distract the black flies
that normally buzz about it's head here in Canada.

I agree, unfortunately many see having the label on the outside as
reinforcing their status rather than making them seem dupes of the
fashion industry. I would like one of the cheapo manufacturers to
bring out a range "I didn't pay double for a name brand" brand. They
would get my custom.

Interesting... Swedes and Estonians usually take me for a Finn, Finns
take me for an Estonian, and the rest of Europeans tend to take me for
an Israeli. I am an American.

The Austrailians wear bush hats with beer bottles hanging down from the
brim.

I'm quite proud of the fact that I'm usually mistaken for a local
regardless of where I happen to be. I don't know why. I'm often
addressed in the local dialect rather than the national language.

Well, that's true. You and seem to indicate that.

A "sixth sense" was mentioned in this thread and I believe I have it
to some degree. Of course it's possible that not every one of us I
think I spot is. But the degree of success I've had over the decades
is, uh, remarkable. In fact, I did.

Absolutely. Words cannot encapsulate my wrath when, having finally
discovered a nice grey hoodie without a logo on the front, I delightedly
paid for it and took it home only to discover one on the *back*. :;

They're strapping glads, those Aussies. And anyway, the bottles wouldn't be
full for long.
Tim.
