Judging by the ads I see on TV, they seem to be equally
obsessed with products like Viagra! Is it that so many more
men than in the past have premature difficulties in that
area, or that they refuse to accept the realities of aging?
(Sex is nice, but there ARE other things in life, and
other interests should develop with maturity.)

It's natural for teeth to lose their pristine appearance as
people age - I think the American obsession is more with
maintaining eternal youth, and sparing no expense to do so.
Whatever happened to "growing old gracefully"? One of the
"phrases to live by" I collected in my youth was something
Myrna Loy said in a newspaper interview: "Try to relax into
every time of life - there are none so old as those who
desperately cling to their youth."

The map is a bit misleading. Of course African nations would have low
numbers of filled, decayed, or missing teeth----they have no dentists. It's
difficult to diagnose decay without a dentist, and it's difficult to have
dental work done without one also.

Have you noticed how some of those veneers look
fake? I mean I know one really cute woman about
45 who got the whitest veneers put on her teeth
and they look like false teeth to me. They are all
uniform in size and color and have no spaces
in between them. Just like false teeth...weird.
I think they need to refine these porcelain veneers
and their application so they look more real. -rbl

OK, why are the toothless, stinky-breath people criticizing the United
States? Did you folks wake up on the wrong side of the bed? With a
tooth ache?

On the Anna Nicole Smith interviews last week on The Insider I was
noticing that her teeth looked so perfect they must be fake. They
were perfectly uniform, no spaces in between them, and so sparkling
white, like pearls. Don't know if they're veneers, dentures, or what.
Considering her family background and where she comes from, she
probably had to have whatever teeth she had left pulled out and got
implants or something.

It's an American thing like bar-b-ques.
Why would someone travel to another country and then complain when
something is different and strange from their home country. Isn't half
the point of travel to be more open and experinace new things? If you
need everything to be exactly as it is in your own country, don't
travel, stay home.
