West coast of Turkey?

I'm thinking about making a quick detour to one of the cities on the west coast
of Turkey while I'm in the Greek islands in June. What's a good place to visit
for a couple days? Do I need a visa or any other special arrangements to go
there?

You will need a visa to visit Turkey, but you can get one at the airport
on arrival. It will cost you $100 if you're a US citizen.

If he isn't he might as well not need one, depending. Ksu93dlv: What
country are you from? Your name doesn't sound like a language I've heard
before.

Assuming that you don't simply wish to swap beaches, for a quick detour,
your centre has to be Kusadasi. Not a bad little town in itself, and right
on top of famed Ephesus, plus lesser known but absolutely beautiful ancient
sites such as Priene. If you can stretch your stay you're not so far,
either, from Troy, the Dardenelles, and even Istanbul.

OK, in my opinion Kusadasi is an unashamed tourist trap with half the ripoff
artists in Turkey being there. Check out Istanbul instead, it is one of the
worlds great cities and is well worth the trip.
If you can visit Turkey and leave without a carpet you are doing well!

Good grief, have you been to the other popular resorts! Bodrum & co.!!!!!!
Kusadasi obviously has its touristy aspects, but it is by far the most
pleasant of the Med resorts apart from, maybe, little-used (by Brits)
Alanya. And it *is* a superb central base.
Would certainly agree, though, that a first quick trip would have to be
Istanbul, but that didn't seem to be the original question.
