You can take the train from Warnemünde 05:31, 07:38, 09:38 or
11:38.You'll have to change train in Rostock Hbf. The trip to Rostock takes 21
minutes, and the total travel time (with train change) Warne-Berlin is
about 3h20min.
You'll have at least 8 minutes to change train in Rostock Hbf, so if you use one of
this connection will you have time enough. - From Berlin can you take the train
14:46, 16:46 or 18:46 to Rostock, and then (again) change trains in Rostock. The
travel time Berlin-Warnemünde with train change in Rostock Hbf is about 3h20min.
You'll have at least 7 minutes to change train in Rostock. - Fares:
The normal one-way ticket costs 68 DEM (US$29), so a return ticket costs 136 DEM.
On Saturdays and Sundays can you buy a "Schönes Wochenende" ticket, which you can use
as a return ticket if you return the same day. It costs only 40 DEM (US$17), and it's
valid for up to 5 persons!!

Unfortunately I do not find the English-language timetable right now...
I looked up a trip from Warnemünde Ferry to Berlin Zoo. A one-way ticket is about
68-78 DM, travel time is 3 hours 20 minutes, so travel time will take a very sizable
chunk out of your day. If you only want to kill some time or do some sightseeing,
maybe someplace closer to Warnemuende would be a better choice than Berlin.
To go to Berlin: I would simply go to the train station in Warnemünde and ask for a
return ticket to Berlin. It's probably the easiest way.

I used to drive a Heisenbergmobile, but every time I looked at the speedometer,
I got lost.

The train station in Warnemunde is right next to the cruise pier so no problem,
however, despite the fact that the cruise lines will advertise this as a Berlin stop,
the train trip takes a long time. You will be rushed in Berlin. My uncle did this a
couple years ago and wished that he had stayed behind.

By rail is possibly the best way. You can find schedules and prices on
http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en Expect a travel time of 3:20 one w. There's
more than one station in Warnemunde (Warnemunde DB,Warnemunde Werft) but one of them
is probably close to your ship as the line runs along the harbour. Expect a change of
train at Rostock and choose Berlin Zoo as destination (probably the best) Possibly
there is no staffed ticket sale from all Warnemunde stations as it's a local
S-line,if so buy a local ticket to Rostock in the automates and another one from
Rostock. Allow some time for that (frequent trains Warnemunde-Rostock )

Dear Emil Jelstrup
I was searching for accomodation in Warnemunde when I linked up to the ex pat page! I was wondering can anyone help us find accomodation for 6 Olympic sailors in July next year. We are coming over for our World Championships in the Yngling class. Ideally self catering or friendly families!!
look forward to hearing from you / anyone else with helpful ideas

Take a look at ftp://ftp.rostock.de-
/download/ggv2002.pdf for a list of hotels and private accomodations. It's only
in german but with the help of an (online) dictionary
(http://dict.tu-chemnitz.de) it should be
quite understandable. Or you mail directly to the tourist information of
Rostock-Warnemünde [email protected] for recommendations.

I stayed in rostock for a week a few years back at the city hotel right next to the
bahnhof It was reasonable and actually quite nice at much less than the SAS or
Marriott properties.
