Warm vacation in February?

I'm looking for a reasonably warm, sunny place to vacation the last
half of February. Any suggestions? Right now I'm looking at Costa del
Sol and the Italian Riviera but am open to other suggestions.
Will I find hotels and restaurants open that time of year? How much
rain can I expect? Will it be a little *too* quiet (one guidebook
described the resort towns of Costa del Sol in winter as 'neutron-bomb
quiet')?
thanks,

You'll probably find the warmest place in Spain is in Murcia. But that is
"no-snow" warm, not really warm by my standards. I don't think there are any
places in Europe that would be warm by my standards. Go to the Canaries or
elsewhere.
Not in Europe, but you can't rely on Florida to be warm in February. While
very unusual, Miami has seen a few snow flakes. I have seen snow flakes in
north Florida, and ice on puddles near Kennedy Space Center. My friend on
the west coast of Florida about 50 miles north of Tampa had two inches of
snow last winter.

Well, there's also the French Riviera with the Nice carnival and the Menton
lemon festival occurring during the latter half of February if you're
looking for is crowds and a lively atmosphere. The advantage of the Cote
d'Azur is that you can easily take trains and busses for day trips to the
many interesting towns in the area--including into Italy.

Let's start another discussion about whether the Canary Isles are in
Europe or not.

Experience tells me that the Italian Riveria will not be warm in Feb.
You have to go further south (Napoli perhaps, Sicilly certainly)

There will be some open, but they may not look open.

It may rain, I spent two weeks in November in Southern Italy
and it tipped down for the first one, 35 (Euro) degrees the other.

IMHO Holiday resourt are only 'too quite' if the historical sites
are closed.

Without question the Canaries are in Europe. The euro is the currency
there.
By the same token Martinique and Guadeloupe are in Europe, they use the
euro. They are warm in February. That's their high season.
St Martin is less clear. While the official currency is the euro, the US
dollar is the de facto currency.

As has been said, the Canaries, but are they in Europe?
If you go to Spanish packageland in the winter it will be
deserted and miserable, but not as bad as in the season. If you
go to Spain it will be normal.

That's probably high season for bingo and miniature golf.
Cyprus would probably be a bit warmer.

It's not *really* warm there in February either. The only place where you
will find it warm is the Canary Islands. Okay, maybe geographically not
Europe, but from Country & Culture they are.
I've been the many times in winter, and always enjoyed ist. Temperatures
will be around 23 - 25 degrees C in that time. If you look for sunshine,
try the Southern Coasts/island, like Playa del Ingles (Gran Canaria) or
Playa del Americas (Tenerife). Fuerteventura is also quit warm, but there's
not much to do there beseides the beach.
> Will I find hotels and restaurants open that time of year?
For the Canaries: Yes! Winter is more or less the main season there.

Very little/none if you stay at the southern coast. There is rain at the
northern coasts, like Los Chsitianos (Tenerife).

No, don't worry.
