Venice -- Porec??

I am trying to find the best way (ANY way) - to get from Venice, Italy
to Porec, Croatia. I THINK there is a train that I can take from
Venice to Trieste, Italy -- which is CLOSER to Porec, but I can't seem
to find anymore trains that get me to Porec (I THINK I also have to
pass through Slovenia to get there). Also, I can't rent a car from
Venice and drive it into Croatia......I tried at many different places.
Any suggestions??

from Trieste and Parenzo ( Porec) there was a narrow gauge train till 1935,
ca. 123 kms.
then the railway was shut down, as the competition with buses was
unbeatable.

so there isn't a train linking Trieste and Porec?
There IS a bus, though? And if so, do we catch it at the train
station?
thanks.

No. Reason quite simple: no train station in Porec.
> There IS a bus, though? And if so, do we catch it at the train station?
Bus from Trieste to Porec. Most probably. Where to catch it from? -
absolutely no idea.
But as you really want to get from Venice to Porec as quickly and easily as
possible (I presume), here is your answer:-

I was also going to suggest a ferry but didn't know which one! So there
you go... great minds think alike, etc! :o)
Messing around with busses, trains, etc is not the most direct, easy,
etc route. HOwever, I have a feeling (can't confirm) that the ferry is a
more expensive option.

about 10 years ago there was a bus from Trieste, it was cheap and
frequent.

There used to be a bus from the end of our road into Leiden until last
year, but not anymore. Even a subsidy making it almost free on
Saturdays didn't help attract passengers.

There are some nasty hills in leiden though, sitting near the
australia ice cream shop, it was entertaining watching how many people
had to get off their bikes to push them up the hill...

It's where I did hill starts when I did driving lessons in Leiden.
Driving up Sutton Bank 1in 4, the first real hill I ever drove a car
up by myself, came as quite a shock. The two 1 in 3 hills in
Littlebeck were even bigger surprises.
Most bicycles r4 stealing in Leiden.
