Vegan options in Poland?
Howdy, y'all; I'm planning a trip to Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine for
latter half of August. One of our group is vegan and only eats what grows in the dirt. Kielbasa is a no-no. Are there vegan choices on menus in restaurants in eastern Europe these days? TIA. |

Not in all restaurants, but in touristic and bigger cities - Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Warszawa, Lodz, Lublin, Gdansk, Zakopane - you can find entirely vegetarian/vegan restaurants. Restaurants in smaller cities and motels by the roads - forget about it... there kielbasa and kotlet rule :) -- Marcos [Marek Slusarczyk] marcos [AT] terefere . com http://wyprawy.terefere.com |

Just go to the local 'bar mleczny' (milk bar), and you will find a whole selection of salads and soups for dirt cheap prices. Apart from that, hit the closest supermarket, or just resort to drinking the excellent Polish beer instead. Multivitamins are cheap and readily available too. Oh, and you have apparently made a bit of an effort to pick up the local language. That should put you in stead for a good time in Poland. It's a bitch of a language, and the locals love it when you try to speak it - even if done very badly! -- --- DFM - http://www.deepfriedmars.com --- -- |
