Default Turin, Italy

Will be going to Turin soon for a football match. Can anybody recommend
any good hotels, places to eat & drink, etc.

Not too bothered about the cost but then again nothing too expensive. I
basically just want a single room which is not too far from either the
airport or the Stadio Delle Alpi (Juventus FC).

Many Thanks.

Get some GOOD advice before you go and don't leave anything to chance.
We have there twice and found most of Turin pretty dreary, Turin is the
HQ of Fiat and also some sort of military base There MUST be some nice
parts Everything looks the same and it is very easy to get lost which
we did. However the Turinais were extremely charming and helpful.

Last time I was there I stayed at the Best Western Piemontese on Via
Berthollet, in the centre, which was good - it's very close to the
railway station where you can connect to the airport. I'm not sure
where the stadium is but I imagine there must be good public transport
from the centre.

An excellent and not-expensive restaurant close by is C'Era Una Volta,
at Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 42.

Cochon is right that Turin can come across as a bit dreary in some
ways, but it has a kind of faded grandeur and a complete absence of
touristification that make it one of my favourite Italian cities -
Juventus notwithstanding. ;)
