Much fruit/vegetable harvesting in the UK is done by people who are not strictly
entitled to work. Immigration turn a blind eye, because if illegal workers didn`t do
it, no-one would. It`s hard work though.
You could ask at restaurants for washing-up type work though, many employ casual
labour in this way. I have a Russian friend who worked for three months in a
restaurant in the West Country, but he only received £25 per day.
Impractical for you maybe, but I have visited 26 different countries as a truck
driver, including Sweden, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, and I get paid well for it.

You can only stay within the EU for 90 out of 180 days so the old days of popping
over to Switzerland are long gone.
