Travel from Manchester Airport to Liverpool

Hello - I would like to travel from Manchester Airport to either Liverpool
"Lime Street" Station or central Liverpool - or is their a difference? Would
have preferred to fly direct LHR to Liverpool "John Lennon" Airport, but
apparently no such flight operation exists! Would appreciate any advice as to
best method of travel from MAN Airport - train preferably, if no connections
required, but will take coach as last resort. Can anyone suggest an
appropriate website with such information? Thanks...

Yes, they are different stations, but only a few minutes walk from each
other. Lime Street (a very historic station, dating back to the 1830s)
is the main station for Liverpool, Central serves many of the local
Merseyrail lines (as does Lime Street for that matter- though they don't
exactly overlap their services.)

Indeed there isn't. I think you can only fly to London City airport from
Liverpool.

It's not a problem. Manchester Airport has a train station and is well
connected to Liverpool. Check out www.nationalrail.co.uk for timetable
information. (enter Manchester Airport as the starting station, and
Liverpool as the destination.) There is an (approximately) hourly direct
service to Liverpool from the airport, and at other times, you take a
train to Manchester Piccadilly, and change there. There are frequent
trains from Manchester to Liverpool. I'll be on one in a few hours!

www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you all the timetable information.
Lime Street is only 5-10 mintutes walk from Liverpool central. Lime street
is probably better if you are getting a taxi.
Despite the names Lime street is the main station, 'central' is a basically
a branch line / metro station.

www.nationalrail.co.uk for trains
www.nationalexpress.co.uk for the biggest long-distance bus company,
though there might be other services.
