Hi,
I'll be staying in the town of Alpe d'Huez for several days in July.
I'd appreciate any restaurant recommendations (decent food at good
prices), things to do, etc. I'm not looking for day trip suggestions,
just suggestions for things in the very immediate vicinity of the town
(walkable is good).
Thanks!
Brian

Brian: Alpe d'Huez is a seasonal resort that has limited operations during
the summer, particularly during years the Tour de France doesn't climb the
mountain. My experience (over the past few years) was that there wasn't a
whole lot up there, and I was told there were only three or four hotels that
are open during the summer (limiting the number of hotel-based restaurants
that might be open).
You'll find quite a few more choices in Bourg d'Oisan (hope I didn't botch
the name too badly!) in the valley below.

Thanks, Mike. I was at Alpe d'Huez last year for the TdF time trial as
a staff person on a bike tour that followed the Tour. However, we
stayed down in Grenoble. This year our group will be staying at the top
of the mountain and riding from there.
I imagine Bourg d'Oissons would have more open, but I'll likely be
stuck at the top with the rest of the group, which is why I'm looking
for suggestions.
