No. "Service compris" replaces tips. You don't have to leave anything
as a tip when you see "service compris" (and you can safely assume that
SC is the default unless otherwise indicated, in France).

I know the building well, I just didn't know they had ushers (or _one_
usherette, at least).
Is she paid, or does she depend exclusively on tips in the traditional

Well, every opera house I've visited in Europe (including the Bastille
in Paris) has ushers to show you to your seat (and sell you a program).
I don't particularly enjoy spoken drama if I don't speak the language,
and I don't go to movies/cinema at home, so I'd have no reason to do so
abroad.
