A quoted fare of 300 Kc became 400 Kc when we arrived at the destination. I didn't go into dispute mode until the bags were out of the car, and I then relied on the fact that the money he wanted was in my pocket, and I wasn't prepared to take it out. There are many good things about Prague, but the two main exceptions that I experienced are cab drivers who try to rip you off, and restaurant servers who pad bills (not all of them, of course, but quite a few that I encountered). Some other visitors have had problems with on-street money changers and with honey-traps in night-clubs. -- PB The return address has been MUNGED My travel writing: http://www.iol.ie/~draoi/ |

I think you live in a different world to the rest of us if you think that taking a bag out of a car boot (trunk) is worth 5 dollars. To me it's worth an absolute max of 5 cents. tim |

Plenty of people I know will tip up to $5 (I said $2-5) for each bag handled by a driver. If you are a backpacker of course not. But there are other types of travelers in this world. > if you > think that taking a bag out of a car boot (trunk) is worth > 5 dollars. > > To me it's worth an absolute max of 5 cents. > > tim |
