I did. The first hit photo isn't the one I had in mind, another is but a very
small version of it.

Often they are like the desert drawings in Peru, the stones have been removed.

I watched the documentary about Dounreay Fast Breeder Reactor on BBC4 last
night. A really excellent documentary, odd that they showed it so late

Exactly, it's not a simulation of flying- anymore than zooming out of
google earth is a simulation of taking off in the space shuttle looking
out the back! :)

MS FS simulation of a small plane is nothing like the feeling of flying a small
plane.

If you count FS from 1993, then so have I. :) (An hour's flying lesson
from EDI in the late 80s)

8 hours from a WWII Luftwaffe fighter pilot in a Piper Cherokee 140 in
California.
I enjoyed the tips of what to do with Russian fighters diving out of the sun and
the easiest way to shoot down US bombers "so much easier than RAF crewed
bombers, but I preferred sailing.

It's not a simulation of flying, any more than looking at a porn film is
a simulation of sex. I mean that quite seriously, and I think when you
think about it, you'll see why. I've got nothing against Microsoft FS by
the way- I'm sure it's great fun. Even the one I played with in 2003 was
enjoyable, and the graphics were _much_ more rudimentary then.

Who said it was realistic? Not me. Fly from Kirkwall to Sumburgh in a
real aircraft, and compare it with the "photos" used in FS.

Given you're a photographer, it's hard not to laugh at that.

Some of the aerial combat games/simulators were much more fun and more
realistic. At least one was a real combat aircraft simulator adapted to run on a
PC. No driving over fields and up the side of mountains like I could do with the
demo version of the current MS FS.
