Default Suggestions for summer travels

Hi

Can anyone recommened a safe way for a single female student to travel
Europe?

Are there groups available to travel with safely or 'safe areas' to visit or
work?

Cannot convince concerned parents to let me travel alone for 2 or 3 months,
so look forward to any suggestions.

TIA

I believe there are websites and services where you can look for another
female travelling companion, or advertise in local press, etc.

Do your folks think that Europe will be more dangerous than travelling in
the UK?

Small Planet Guide books include sections in each chapter about safety for
women and for gay and lesbian travelers.
My impressions are that in general violent crime is rare. You are probably
not in more danger than you are at home.
