I've heard that compliance has been very good, and certainly I didn't
see a single instance of anyone infringing it. I would rest assured if I
were you.

It is true, we have a strange "c", it seems also the Etruscans had this kind
of pronounciation.
I began to study English at 6 and I am able to pronounce "because" properly
but a lot of Tuscans pronounce it something like "behause" :-D

If you do not follow it you will be fined and the owner of the restaurant
will not permit you to smoke or he will be fined for 2.000,00 Euros.
The fine for you is even higher if there are babies or pregnant women
around.
And last but not least people are not very kind with smokers who want to
smoke wheere it is forbidden!
You can smoke in the streets or in restaurants with restricted areas (there
are what we call "the cages" completely closed areas where smokers can smoke
and not taste what they are eating, but there are very few cages).

Laws are frequently not enforced in Italy, but the social pressure to
be considerate works better. I hate smoke, and I rarely get bothered
by it here.

Along with perfume, cars, mobile phones etc.
No reason why people should have to put up with them.
Let's be consistent and ban everything that's an irritant to many
people.
There won't be much left.

Since perfume companies have started making their product with 5-6000
petrochemicals, some carcinogenic, some neurotoxins, some known to cause
allergic reactions, yes, they should be outlawed. But that industry is
essentially unregulated due to "trade secret" laws.

60,000!!!
In the UK less than 3,000 people a year are killed in traffic accidents,
including drunk pedestrians who walk under buses.
I beg leave to doubt that about one American in five thousand dies because
of drunk driving...
