If you are a student or under 25 (i think) you should check out www.counciltravel.com
I got my ticket from San Diego to Heathrow through them a few months ago and their
prices were a few hundred dollars less than everywhere else.

HTH, gabe.

STA travel is similar and I have used both -- they also have 'teacher travel' some
airlines will give teachers a similar break to students. We saved $500 on tickets to
Paris a year and a half ago and saved over $600 from current costs on tickets for our
daughter on a study abroad program. I have heard that Council is in financial
difficulty though and would want to be sure I didn't get stuck.

On Northwest? I hope the water in the aircraft works, such a basic service hasn't on
many flights that I've taken with them. Not to mention people in Business/First
class getting screwed because the video systems were down/out/crashed.

Someone besides me who is NOT totally enchanted with Northwest? I find their domestic
flights grim enough so I avoid them whenever possible - haven't even CONSIDERED then
for overseas flights!

I flew NWA from Amsterdam to Minneapolis/StPaul......Talk about a nightmare, they
flew us on a DC-10, one of the most cramped plnaes for int'l flights. It sucked big
time. KLM though was wonderful, i loved every minute of it, I wish we had KLM here in
America and not NWA "Evelyn Vogt Gamble (Divamanque)" <[email protected]> wrote

You're not the only one who has seen this. The best price I've seen to DUS was $927,
and that fare went away in a few hours... everything else is in the $1200 range. This
is for travel in mid-August, return in early September.

In another thread, someone suggested that six weeks beforehand is the optimal time to
book a ticket - is this true? I can't see fares doing up much more.

For a $55 fare, who needs water?

It comes in handy if you need to remove contact lenses to soak them so they won't
dry out in the cabin air during a long flight. Consider also, people with small
children. One time a NWA flight was delayed at the gate for 45 minutes until someone
showed up with a few cases of small bottles of water.

You should not be putting your contact lenses in any water coming out of an airplane
tap, why not use some nice sterile saline that you'll have with you anyway?

I hope they go prepared, it's none too hard to carry some water...

Why not buy a charter flight ticket to London (usually the cheapest option) and then get a Ryanair/Easyjet/Go flight to your final destination which you can book over the internet- you'd save a fotune.

I don't see why not. Maybe there's a rule that you have to allow library staff to
accompany you on your trip?

Thank you, Miguel. What if I don't have a computer at home but use one here at the
Hillsborough County Library? Can I buy a ticket online in that case?

Only potential snag I can see is that, unless you have an e-mail address established
there, they'd have no way of confirming your reservation. (In fact, I think some
internet transactions include your e-mail address as part of the "required" info,
before they'll process your order.)

I was unaware you were a medical Dr., where do you practice?

If a person paid $1800.00 to go to Europe in business class it would be a reasonable
expectaction that the video system would work and that the aircraft had a working
water system. If people in coach are denied drinkable water from the aircraft taps,
then the real question is: what else doesn't work on the aircraft?

As a librarian, I like that rule
