Same Exact Hotel room, Possible?

Hi,
Would it be possible to try and get the same exact hotel room again, after
having stayed in that very room some years ago?
There is a hotel in London that I stayed at many years ago (5 +) and I would
love to be able to get the same room again. I had a great time there, was
there for many nights and so the hotel room has many memories (became like a
second home for a while).
It would be great if the hotel upon checking, would afford me this
privilege. Possible you think?
Incidentally, has anyone out there done the same...gone back to the exact
same hotel room many years later and see how that "feels" to the senses?

Yes, but by accident of room allocation, and not by design (it was a
small hotel, so it wasn't a great coincidence). The room had been
entirely redecorated in a different style, and the only thing that was
unchanged was the window and the view from it.
Oddly, on a recent trip, we stayed in the same hotel twice (once
going, and once coming back) and were given the same room each time.
It had to be purely down to chance, as we hadn't booked in advance,

It happened to me in the several months I spent (not all at the same
time!) in Liverpool's Adelphi. It wasn't that 517 was my "favourite"
room, more that it was the only one I knew I could usually get which I
at least didn't find horrible. :(

Of course - if you can remember the room number, or describe it accurately
enough that it's identifiable, I'm sure that if it's available they'd let
you have it. However - unless it's a place with truly exceptional customer
service, I wouldn't expect them to take the time to research which room
you stayed in five years ago...

Ring them and ask.
We stayed in exactly the same hotel, the Tennis Hotel, in
Zbraslav (southern Prague) in '03 and this year. We loved
the village location and convenience but it was
disappointing; rates had increased by 50% with a change in
management and some rude staff.
I'll be a little more cautious recommending hotels in the
future - changes can occur very rapidly.

I have had people telling me that I am staying in their favourite room,
and ask when I will be vacating it. Frankly, I don't see the difference
in most hotels, unless it is a specific view that you like. Still, to
each his/her own.
I think most hotels would accede to your request if the room is
available. Good luck!

Can't hurt to ask, the worst they could do is say "no".
(One assumes you remember the room number?)

Yes. Phone the hotel. Do you remember the room number? It helps.

Thanks for sharing!
Originally, Hotel person (an inexperienced first-timer-staff-type) told me
that it was not possible, blah blah, but i just sounded like she was a bit
nervous about my question since it was "outside of the handbook" if you know
what I mean. No problem, didn't expect her to tackle this.
I later followed up with the manager and they were delighted that I had such
a request, said with out doubt they will try and almost guarantee that they
will accommodate me --- and even said they remember me since I had stayed a
few but many nights there!
Well, I am a man that lives for the "re-living" of such senses so I am happy
to know this is possible :-)
(one time, I flew 6500 miles just to have a meal again in a low key, your
every-day-type of restaurant in Central America, just because the reliving
of the senses from having eaten there in the past combined with the ambience
was something I always remembered & was glad that i re-did it!)
