My wife and I scheduled for a group tour of Europe, next month. Considering
cancelling because of all the security threats. Any opinions on this?
Thanks

Not another one! Stay at home, lock the doors and don't go anywhere. If
you're from the USA, you'd probably be safer in Europe than at home.

Unless it's a really low cost tour planning to use areas primarily
inhabited by muslim immigrants don't worry. I have two trips planned
one to Spain & Portugal and another to the Balkans and I don't expect to
change. But then again the last trip I canceled was one thru Belgrade
just after the air strikes began. That one was worth giving up on.

Jeez, not another one.
No, you shouldn't cancel your trip. If there is a war any Iraqi
undercover agents will attack the U.S. rather than their European
allies. So you're almost certainly safer in Europe than in the U.S.
I'm going to France in a couple of months and am NOT canceling my
trip, unless the airlines stop flying.
Don't do anything stupid like get caught up in a demonstration, or
wear a yarmulke to a mosque, and you should do fine.
Sorry for the vent but this keeps coming up over and over again.

I think it's a very good idea. During the last Gulf War over 1400 Americans
were drawn and quartered in town squares by angry Europeans. No point asking
for trouble. This time I hear the villagers are carrying pointy sticks
instead of just sacks of stale cookies.

Yeah. My specific thought for you is to go and stop worrying.
My general thought is that I'm getting tired of the number of
Americans posting this kind of message. Nothing personal to you, but
it's silly at best. There is no logical reason I can think of for
anyone to believe that there's more risk of terrorism in Europe than
the U.S. I wish people would stop posting questions like these, and I
consider them to be ignorant questions.

first of all this person never said they were afraid of being attacked in a
particular place. perhaps they are just a little hesitant to fly. why is
this ignorant. if you all believe there is no threat in europe then look a
few years ago to all the bombings. the fact is americans have become
targets and too bad if you don't like americans asking about this - then
dont answer. this is an open forum.
oh yeah and what makes you think they are american. maybe they are asian or
african or australian or whatever. fact is some people dont think about
this kind of thing and others do. so what.
if you do not think there is a danger than take a look at the streets of the
major european cities for a second. maybe you dont see all the special
police. maybe you dont see the embassies blocked off. maybe you dont see
the streets blocked off.
so finally i say to this person cancel the trip if it is not so important to
you. go some place close to home where you will feel comfortable and have a
worry free time. after all it is a vacation.

Please cancel. I am going to be travelling the world on a shoestring,
so the more cancellations there are the more I will be able to
negotiate better prices during the trip.
Seriously, if you aren't going to Iraq and if you behave in public as
a civil, intelligent person then you will probably be safer than
driving thru traffic to work. This is not the voice of an experienced
traveller - just common sense.
Cheers - Alan

If it makes you feel better, then cancel. Simple as that.
As with lots of things to do with personal safety, it's the perception that
matters, not the facts, and if worries about security threats will ruin
your holiday, then go somewhere where you won't worry.

No, he was a poor unfortunate cat that was so deprived by its owner it
had to spend it's unfortunate bedraggled life killing itself in the
vain chase of tiny little bird for what little sustenance it would
