Rome map
I was last in Rome about 3 years ago, and got a really good city map
from the tourist desk at Stazione Termini. Does anyone know if they
still provide them?

I don't know, but if you're looking for an outstanding map of
Rome, I *highly* recommend the Michelin "Roma Atlante Tascabile."
It's a sturdy spiral-bound pocket-sized edition, with a page for
each neighborhood. It's very detailed, and, as far as I'm aware,
doesn't miss even the tiny streets.
I used to use the big fold-up maps, but after even a few days of
unfolding and refolding, they werer always in shreds. I used to
buy a new one every time I went to Rome, but this pocket Michelin
version should last me for many trips.
I got mine at the Vatican bookstore, but Amazon.com sells them
(Michelin Rome Mini-Spiral Atlas No. 2038) for $8.06.

I have visited both of those sites, but I can't find anything that
says that free maps are available.
Did I miss something?

Re: Rome map
We found the free ones at the info kiosks were better than the
expensive one I bought at barnes and Nobel here at home.

Re: Rome map
There are several tourist info booths in Rome - one is just across the
street from the Forum (near via Naztionale, I htink it was) another
was up near the Spanish steps...they had lots of free maps, gave good
advice about which bus to catch to get somewhere, where the stops
were, etc.
