Default Rome - Hotel/B&B 100 Euro a night Max

I did find a thread on this, but it was back in March and I couldn't
reply to it, so I thought it was time to put out a new one.

For those of you who have been looking for lodging in Rome, it's
sticker shock time! The little 2 star hotels that people have talked
about in the past (3 months ago) are now minimum 130 euros! Ouch!

So has anyone found one lately? Please don't post about where you
stayed 2 years ago - the prices have rocketed. We just need a place to
sleep before catching a morning flight out of FCO.

Sure is hard to find travel stuff on here anymore - I had to wade
through a bunch of "hate" postings before I found much travel. What a
shame! This used to be a great site. I can't figure out why the "hate
posters" are HERE? Isn't there a forum that would suit them better?

Happy travels,

Brahmama

I am not too sure what "sticker shock" may be, but CNG have several reasonable
hotels in Rome for less than EUR ?100 per night, breakfast included. Go to
http://rome.cng-hotels.com/

We stayed at Rudy's B&B at I think 53 Napoleon III for 2 nights before
exiting to the airport. Is about 4 blocks from Termini and was 70E a night.
This was a month ago. 1 room has a great, updated bathroom, others may not
be so good. Is an older building, on the 5th floor, with a lift / elevator.
Was a few minute walk to Termini with our bags on the last morning.
Breakfast in down the street in a bar.

The Arenula (one of my favorites) is 92 euros for a single, 121 for a
double

I did a quick search on www.octopustravel.com, which claims to compare
prices from all the major travel sites, and see a number of hotels
under 100 euros. I don't know any of them personally, but you could
check tripadvisor for reviews before committing yourself.

As does hrs.de, 44 of them under E100, some of them claim 4 stars.

FYI, for budget travelers reading this thread:
Jonico was the only hotel listed on Octopus less than $100 USD - and
it was $76. The next priced out at $110 and then up (and WAY up from
there!

I just talked to my friend from Rome who was visiting his mother here
in Texas and he said prices in Rome were just out of sight - that is
rooms and restaurants - and getting higher. But out of Rome, he said
that prices were much more reasonable. He invited us to spend the
night before we fly back with him. So that may be a great solution for
us if he will let us buy him a great dinner!

But I did love Octopus.com and thanks, Barbara, for that website. I
have it securely bookmarked.

....but you asked about hotels for less than EUR ?100 per night, not US $100. US
$76 is about EUR ?58. Rome is a Capital City. Do you think you would pay less in
London or Amsterdam?

Hi John,

You are exactly right - gotta compare apples to apples and I did ask
about lodging with 100 Euro max.

The thing is that Octopus.com gives you the results in USD and I
wasn't thinking. Or maybe just too lazy and was figuring the
equivalency in my head.

There were several listed at $110 which is equivalent to about 83 Euro
so this place is a good one for budget travelers to research.

58 is certainly very very cheap for any capitol city!

We did find a great 3 star hotel in London last September for 76
pounds - about 108 Euro.

Happy travels,

Carol

That's funny, it gives me the results in pounds sterling. I converted
to euros in my head.
