I'm searching for a cheap flight from Roma to Vienna. Can anyone help me
giving love a chance, cause i know a beutiful lady and want to see her.

I couldn't help you there, but I figure you know about the overnight
train. It's cheaper, right? But I suppose it's inconvenient on account
of time?

Yes i know the overnight train. But it's not really cheap. additionally the
train companys increased their fees.

Oh. What does it cost nowadays, in Euros or dollars? Are flights
cheaper?

It wasn't really cheap when I took it in 1994, either, but taking the
train from Spoleto-Rome-Vienna-Budapest was a lot cheaper than a
Rome-Budapest flight. Also, it was not expensive compared to a trip of
similar duration on Amtrak with a sleeper.

There are some cheap flights at www.flights.com . I travelled in December
from Vienna to Rome and then from Rome to Stuttgart, Germany. Let me think.
For both trips i took the night train and paid about 300 ?. An alternative
is indeed the bus travel with eurolines. but sitting nearlly 20 hours in a
bus is no amusement.

How do you explain that? AFAIK the fare is set on that route, the
variation being based on the types of accommodation which you choose
when booking (couchettes & sleepers). Unlike the airlines, fares don't go
up & down and one distinct advantage of the train is the fare is set and
shouldn't go up.

I've also stopped giving anything CLOSE to my real e-mail address. I think
the spambots are starting to use "smart" algorithms that dick around with
the "nospam" stuff that we like to chunk into ours and send spam to a
thousand variations of them, because what do they care if 999 of them
bounce? Eventually they will figure aol.common.net out as well. It's a
newsgroup, so it doesn't matter if the original poster is using something
completely silly as a return address.

I never would voluntarily take a bus ride that's much longer than 4
1/2 hours, but 8-hour train rides are OK for me. Rome to Vienna was
overnight, and the bed was very uncomfortable. I wouldn't take that
route regularly if I could avoid it.
