ripping a page out of a passport?
Is it okay to rip one of those customed stamped pages out of a passport?
I took a trip to Finland four years ago and the paged that got stamped
by customs is starting to fall out....so I was wondering if I could just
rip it out to make my passport neat? Or do I have to keep in it, as a
offical record of all my travels?

I should just staple it on to the next page.
US passports have the page numbers in
big white letters so it must have some significance.
Or you could renew the passport to be on the safe side.

I believe this invalidates the passport. I'd tape it neatly back in.

No, you must not do this. Telephone your passport office and ask them what
to do. I am not familiar with US regulations, but some countries allow you
to simply sellotape/staple it back in.

I'd hesitate to rip out a page. Just tape it to the
adjacent pages with some clear tape folded like a
hinge (so the page could still be turned).
If it sticks out too far due to the torn edge and you
want to be neat and tidy, you could carefully trim
a little off the torn edge before you tape the
page back in place. To get a straight cut, use a paper
cutter, or trim it with an Xacto knife (a very sharp
artist's knife sold at office supply stores) using a
straight edge like a ruler to guide the blade.

You absolutely cannot remove it. If you do, some countries will not allow
you to enter, on the presumption that the page you removed had a deportation
stamp.

If you do, it will be assumed that you did so to remove an unwelcome stamp,
such as a refusal of entry or deportation.

Every immigration officer in the world will wonder what you
are trying to hide if you do this.

I agree that you should not tear a page out of the passport but I also wonder
what immigration officer (talking about the USA and Europe) would ever notice.
I've not had one ever leaf through the passport looking for a missing page.

Then you have been lucky. The UK passport people are
very meticulous at examining the pages, and so are
the USA people.

You need permission from your government to remove it (the passport
belongs to the state, not you). I'd suggest that you ask your passport
office to repair it.

Well in my travels I *have* had immigration people flip through every page
as though they are searching for something specific. With this said, I have
seen plenty of countries (including Canada) simply wave us through upon
seeing that they are US passports.
This reminds me of my re-entry into the US from overseas after my honeymoon,
and the immigration officer asking us how we were related. I stuttered, and
he asked, "What, you have to think about this?!??" as though I was preparing
to lie. Somehow he was not amused that I was not yet used to being married
after only 2 or 3 weeks. Idiot.

Or worse, it might show you've visited Cuba , Libya , N.Korea , either
of which make you evil!

I have had immigration people in the US and far east do just that.
