There you go - bus timetable from Deutsches Eck to Hauptbahnhof as
.pdf file - bus goes at ½ hourly intervals for most of the day.

You can also check the Koblenz streetplan:

http://cityguide-deutschland.com/koblenz/

and have fun finding a walking route

I usually start looking at each town/city's website for a starting
point...

e.g. http://www.koblenz.de

Click on "Stadtplan" and choose screen resolution... taking you to
the same map service.

There appear to be a couple of passenger ferries crossing the Rhine
and Mosel near Deutsches Eck... gives weary feet a respite.

I'm not the one posting the question but I really like the mapping program
that they use. It's in German but you don't need very much to understand it!
Having a pocket dictionary handy might be useful of course.

North--toward the mouth of the river and away from the Alps.

What do you mean, not navigable? There are locks, unless something weird
has happened in the last few years. You can't do it all in one day,
however.
