Default Recommendations for short-haul winter beach hol

It's the same every year - we get to December and decide to head
somewhere warm with a decent beach that isn't tacky and is within say 4
hours flight time of London. Every year we get it a bit wrong eg
Madeira (no decent beaches), Agadir (ugly place though lovely beach),
Mahdia in Tunisia (wind-swept, awful hotel). This year we have more
money to spend (up to £1,000) for the 2 of us for a week in early/mid
December. Any suggestions very gratefully received.

fuerteventura has great beaches but the sand does blow about. I dont
care for the big purpose bulit resorts.
lanzarote has some good beaches and is more "civilised".
Tenerife mostly has only man made beaches, but they are quite big.

There is something about France that compels people from across the
world to visit this magnificently beautiful country again and again.
France attracts tourists all through the year and Christmas vacations
are no exception. Words are not enough to describe the immense beauty
and charm of the country that is known to be one of the best honeymoon
destinations in the world.

Paris is a picture-perfect city with tranquil gardens, historic
buildings, ancient alleyways, grand esplanades and world-famous bridges.
It is a beautiful amalgam of the old world charm and modern
technological advancement. The city houses some of the finest museums
and art galleries in the world including the Palais du Louvre. Eiffel
Tower, Sacre-Coeur, the Cathedrale de Notre-Dame are world-famous
architectural masterpieces that you will find in Paris on your France
Christmas vacations. The amazing nightlife offered in Paris is legendry
and you can enjoy music of all kinds in the numerous clubs and bars
scattered throughout the city. The French Alps is a paradise for
adventure sports enthusiasts and offers excellent opportunities for
skiing, hiking and mountain climbing. Enjoy a stunning view from these
spectacular mountain ranges on your Christmas vacations in France.
Provence is a destination that enthralls and seduces the visitors with
its charm. You must visit the sloping vineyards and old Roman towns in
Provence during your Christmas vacation tours to France.

Another one with an over heated apartment. Can you imagine how it is
going to be in Mixi Towers this winter. It's 13 C outside at the
moment according to my Lidl thermometer.

Still no heat on where I live. I'm waiting to see if this will go into
November.

Some people can't understand the difference between "overheated flat" and "warm weather".
I don't get direct sunlight; I don't even have heating in this place - the radiators I
bought 20 years ago have been gathering dust these past 6 years or so.
