Prague hotel accomodation

We're looking at a family trip to Prague in late July/early August for
4-5 days.
There'll be 6 of us, requiring 3 rooms, a triple, a double and a
single. These can be in a hotel or self contained apartment type
arrangement.
Principal factors are proximity to the city centre (the single is for
my mother who is 70, and not especially immobile, but naturally
doesn't want to be walking any further than necessary), comfort levels
(3* and above, say) and price (obviously)
Any recommendations as to a) the accomodation and b) how best to fit
the trip into the time (must see, must avoid, must eat here kind of
recommendations). One of the party will be my daughter, who's 7, so
anywhere in the city that would be a fun place to go for a 7 year old
girl would also be gratefully received. I'm not necessarily expecting
a theme park, but she loves castles with hidden tunnels and secret
passageways and that kind of thing
Thanks
Brian

This hotel is located at the James Joyce Bar just off the Royal Walk,
nice people, rooms have small refrigerator, Sat TV and private bath.
I arranged everything by E-MAIL.

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Julian after a work colleague
recommended it, and were very impressed.
We booked the suite which was larger than we needed (complete with two
televisions!) and an extra bed could easilt be accommodated.
Whilst I'm sure there are more central hotels, it's located close to
several tram routes (which are dirt cheap) and in a quiet area.
They also do airport pick-up which was trouble free.
