Prague Flood Damage?

How much of the Old Town was (is?) flooded? What is the extent of
architectural damage?

Fortunately, all famous and admired tourist attractions resisted (Charles Bridge in
Prague, UNESCO Heritage Cesky Krumlov) or they were intact (Prague Castle & Jewish
City, Prague). However metro service will not be restored for a couple of month.

I'm glad to hear that.

I believe that they are making great progress towards the Baltic.

Except that the female is missing. So Gaston is now on his own...

We had been planning to take the train from Munich to Prague the first week in
October. Do you think they will have the metro service running then? Do you think
it would still be worth the trip?

Thanks, Thor

I think it'll be worth the trip. The metro got flooded, the water broke in at
two different sections, but the trains are running on a small portion of a
different branch.

A friend had already booked to go next weekend. Do you have any advice? Should
she cancel? She's unlikely to be bothered by a lack of subway or some facilities
being closed.

Right now, the rancid smell of the mud left behind by the flood seems to be the
problem... :-(

But I guess the cleaning operation is just going through the motions?

Well, the army and volunteers are cleaning and disinfecting round the clock and there
are sections in the Old Town that are already back in the original state. On the
other hand, today there were 3 tenement houses in the Karlin district that
collapsed....

What a crap thing to say, especially after the waters have been rising excrementally.
Still, what do you expect from rich, effluent people such as yourself.
